Why We Rain-Test Our Limestone
At Mizrahi Design Build, we have a simple objective: a higher-quality build. And one of the ways we ensure that is to have many of the parts of the building pre-ordered and brought on-site right at the beginning, well before they may be required. By doing this, we can assess how all the various components will come together at the earliest possible stage. This approach, in turn, prevents delays. It is often the case that problems arise when certain components of the building arrive, well into the construction phase, only to find that they don’t quite work or are imperfect in some way. The choice then is to either delay the process until replacement parts are sourced or to continue the build with compromised standards.
Mizrahi Design Build is interested in perfection - the closer, the better. And that’s one of the reasons that we brought limestone samples to the 133 Hazelton luxury condominium project in Yorkville before we were even out of the ground. We threw water at the samples to see how the colour or look of them might change when wet. And when we were satisfied with our choice, we bought the entire amount needed all at once, up front, months before installation. Why? We wanted to ensure that we could get the entire limestone order from the same part of the quarry in order to have the same tone of pale yellow that we wanted.
